Census 2016 involves everyone in Ireland and in preparing for the census we have made every reasonable effort to ensure that Census 2016 is accessible to everyone. We want to ensure that everyone can take part, while respecting their right to confidentiality and equal opportunity.
We have put the following arrangements in place to assist you if you if you are affected by any of the following issues which may impact on your ability to participate in the Census.
We will be offering a choice of materials, developed and compiled with the help of the National Council for the Blind in Ireland (NCBI). You will be able to:

There are two versions of ‘How to fill out your form’ available to assist you.
- How to fill out your census form with subtitles.
- How to fill out your census form with sign language and subtitles
If you have a hearing impairment, and you need assistance to communicate with your census enumerator, please let your enumerator know when they call or contact the census helpdesk.
If you have dyslexia or other literacy issues, you will be able to:
Read/download a copy of the “Step by Step Guide to filling in the Census Form” which has been developed with the assistance of the National Adult Literacy Association (NALA) and which gives detailed help in how to answer each question.

Request an audio version of the form on tape or CD from the census helpdesk or from your enumerator.

The 2016 Census questionnaire will be available in English or Irish and you can complete the census on either of these forms.
