The next census in Ireland will take place on 3 April 2022. This will be the 26th census since 1841.
The census is one of the most important undertakings in the country. It is important for you, your family, your parents and children, your local community, your county, your region and for your country.
On Sunday night, 3 April, everyone in Ireland must be included in the census. Your Census Enumerator will deliver a census form to your home between March and census date. They will return to collect your completed census form between 4 April and 6 May.
Every census form will be personally delivered and collected by one of our 5,100 Census Enumerators.
A range of resources are available for both primary and secondary schools to help our students to learn about the census and its importance.
This is a unique opportunity to write a message to the future in a special new section on your census form if you chose to. This will be stored securely for 100 years.
