About the census enumerator
We need 5,100 enumerators all over Ireland to help us run a successful census. The Census is the biggest and most complex survey in Ireland and this is a unique opportunity to be part of it.
What would my role be as a census enumerator?
As an enumerator you would be responsible for the delivery and collection of about 400 census forms in a specific area between 28 February and 6 May 2022.
What hours would I be required to work?
The hours are flexible, approximately 22 hours per week. Typically, this will include evenings and weekends (when people are most likely to be at home) as you must deliver and collect the census forms in person.
How much would I get paid?
Enumerators are paid on a fee/allowance basis. You could expect to earn €3,200 on average, for your work during this 10-week period. [Appropriate deductions for PAYE and PRSI will apply.]
What age do I need to be to apply?
Enumerators must be at least 18.
How can I apply?
Applications (online only) can be submitted at www.census.ie when the competition opens on November 25th at 9am. The competition is due to close on December 10th at 3pm. Early application is advised as the competition may close earlier than the planned closing date if the cap of 15,000 applications is reached.
[Note: The Census 2016 Enumerator competition was closed 4 hours after it opened due to the volume of applications received.]
Will I be trained?
Training in all aspects of the job will be given to successful applicants.
