Accessibility aids

We want to ensure that everyone in Ireland can take part in Census 2022, by making it accessible to everyone, while respecting their right to confidentiality and equal opportunity.

Assistance is available if you are affected by any of the following issues which may impact on your ability to participate in the census.

A number of versions of the Census 2022 Form are available to assist those with visual impairments

NOTE: The large print form is for guidance only. You must fill in the standard census form given to you by your enumerator.

There is a video available to assist you. The video is available in Irish and English.

If you have dyslexia or other literacy issues, there is a Step by Step Guide to filling in your Census Form (PDF) to assist you in understanding and completing your form.  This Plain English Guide has been developed with the assistance of the National Adult Literacy Association (NALA).

The guide gives information to help you fill in your census form. It includes:

  • Questions and answers about the census
  • Dates to remember
  • A quick look at the census form
  • A guide to filling in the census form, including how to answer each question
  • A glossary of terms

We hope that this guide will be useful to people with dyslexia, literacy or accessibility difficulties, and to people who may have difficulty with completing English language forms. The guide is available here.
