For the Census, the CSO divides Ireland into a number of areas which includes 466 census field districts. As a Census Field Supervisor, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the census in one of these districts. You will report to a Census Regional Supervisor. You will manage a team of 9-12 Census Field Support Officers who will each have their own work area within your field district. As the census is going online for the first time, you and your team will support both the digital and paper collection methods.
Duties will include:
- Recruiting, training, and providing support and leadership to your Field Support Officers
- Managing your area’s census fieldwork operations and any potential risks
- Becoming proficient in several IT systems, including the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Training will be provided
- Monitoring and reporting response rates in your area
- Actively promoting the census in your area through community engagement and connecting with local groups and communities
- Working independently from home
- Delivering results and hitting daily/weekly targets
You should have:
- Three or more years’ experience in staff management and the organisation of their work for groups of at least nine people
- Experience of recruiting staff
- Experience of organising and delivering training programmes
- An excellent command of English both written and spoken
- Knowledge of employment rights legislation
- A current driving licence and full-time use of a car from January to June 2027
- A residential address in Ireland at the date of employment
Are you:

- Experienced in communicating through Irish professionally or informally (especially in Gaeltacht areas but would be useful in other areas)
- Eligible under citizenship requirements
- Able to provide secure and confidential storage in your home for all census material and equipment for your field district
